changing generational poverty in students with
eight cents in a jar

imagine our community impact if we taught
our students...

how to build wealth and avoid the pitfalls of money management. We're creating a community that understands financial literacy . . . starting with eight cents.

8 Cents in a Jar, Inc. — an award-winning Florida 501c(3) nonprofit — creates opportunities for students in marginalized neighborhoods and communities of color to achieve economic mobility through financial education.

Students are taught how to save money, acquire assets, and diminish the cycle of generational poverty within their families. Starting at the age of 8, through high school and higher education, the impact help students avoid common pitfalls with money management and take advantage of wealth accumulation early in life across generations.

I came into the Change Academy session as a very nervous immigrant student clueless about financial literacy. But, I left confident and relaxed, comfortable sharing resources with my family. The team at 8 Cents in a Jar made learning fun and exciting; words you don't think about as you know about finances. I finally feel I am equipped to take control of my financial future.
